

Mouth ulcers are very common oral lesion and anyone can get them. Many people suffer from mouth ulcers at least once in their lifetime. Some people seem more susceptible to mouth ulcers then others. Mouth ulcers occur most frequently among children and young adults in at the age of 10-25 years old. Most rarely they occur at the age of 50 years and older.
Mouth ulcers affect both genders, but are more common with females. Women are more prone to mouth ulcers than men which are due to changes in their hormone levels. They are likely to develop mouth ulcers at the onset of a period, during pregnancy or after menopause.

Mouth ulcers are most common among children and young adults in the age between 10 and 20.
Mouth ulcers are fairly uncommon with adult people above 30. The chance of getting mouth ulcer reduces as we age. People above 50 rarely get mouth ulcer.
People who are particularly prone to mouth ulcers often find that a close member of their family experiences them as well. The tendency to develop mouth ulcers often runs in families.
People with a low immune system due to health problems or medication are more susceptible to getting mouth ulcer.
